S4HS - Metal Arc Welding (MIG, MMA and TIG)
Code : S4HS
Safety Alert from HSE. Click HERE for new information regarding welding mild steel, especially if you don't have LEV.
Safety Notice : If you have a pacemaker you need to get advice from your doctor before applying to attend this course. Some pacemakers may be affected by the welding process and others work on a different frequency and are not affected.
This course will consist of a presentation covering the DATA standards followed by practical experience in MIG (Manual Inert Gas), MMA (Manual Metal Arc) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding. Delegates will practise formal jointing techniques and fabricate a flower sculpture using processes of their own selection.
Why don't you get electrocuted when arc welding?
Electricity takes the path of least resistance.....metal is a lot more conductive than the human body, so it chooses that route and spares the worker......when used properly.
However like anything, if misused, it can be dangerous......just dont lick the electrodes or stand in a pool of water and you should be fine.
